BERLIN-In a significant development, Norway has officially joined an international coalition aimed at bolstering Ukraine’s air and missile defense capabilities.

The German Defense Ministry made the announcement via a statement on the X social media network, emphasizing the coalition’s mission to strengthen Ukraine’s integrated air defenses. This coalition, led by Germany and France, is committed to providing crucial support to Ukraine in the face of escalating tensions.

The Ukrainian Defense Ministry had previously revealed the formation of this coalition after a meeting at the Ramstein Air Base in Germany. The coalition’s primary objective is to equip Kiev with advanced air and missile defense systems. With Germany and France at the helm, this collaborative effort aims to enhance Ukraine’s security posture.

Meanwhile, Moscow has raised concerns about weapons supplies to Ukraine. Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov explicitly stated that Russia would consider any cargo containing weapons destined for Ukraine as a legitimate target.

This development underscores the ongoing geopolitical complexities surrounding the conflict in Ukraine and the international community’s efforts to support the nation’s defense. The inclusion of Norway in the coalition adds another layer of commitment to Ukraine’s security and stability.
