6th ECG film festival: A cultural conduit between Eurasia and Britain

LONDON: London’s Premier Cinemas Romford is set to host the 6th ECG Film Festival from May 24-28. This year marks another exciting collaboration with the esteemed Romford Film Festival, celebrating their 6th year of partnership and promising a vibrant and diverse lineup of films.

An initiative of the Eurasian Creative Guild, the festival acts as a cultural bridge between Eurasia and the UK, aiming to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of Eurasian cinematic and artistic expressions.

With an impressive 100 submissions from 22 countries, the festival has curated a captivating selection of films from nations including Spain, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, the UK, Iran, Uzbekistan, Russia, Cyprus, Kyrgyzstan, Jordan, Tajikistan, Armenia, and China. This festival is truly a global showcase of cinematic talent!

In addition to the competitive lineup, a special non-competitive program has been organized. These films range from thought-provoking to family-friendly, and from informative to educational.

Featured films include:

  • Icon, a drama directed by Vera Storozheva
  • Aul Challenge, a family comedy directed by Islam Satyrov
  • 3723 Voznesensky, a documentary directed by Valery Belov
  • Cherkess, a drama directed by Mohydeen Quandour

The grand opening ceremony is set for May 24th at 2:00 pm, featuring the inauguration of an exhibition showcasing works by Central Asian artists, including prominent artist Rahima Makhmut from Kyrgyzstan.

Following the festival’s opening, a book by Tajikistani writer Gulsifat Shahidi will be presented.

The awards ceremony will be held on May 28th at 7:00 pm, where winners from both festivals will be honored. ECG will present awards for Best Eurasian Film, Best Short Film, Best Documentary, and Best Screenplay.

From May 24-28, British audiences can explore the world of Eurasian cinema, discover new perspectives, and celebrate the art of storytelling at the ECG Film Festival.
