NATO foreign ministers gather in Brussels for 2-day meeting

The foreign ministers of NATO member states gathered on Tuesday for a two-day meeting in Brussels to discuss the war in Ukraine and other global issues.

“The war in Ukraine will be high on foreign ministers’ agenda”, NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said on Tuesday in a joint news conference with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, ahead of the meeting.

Both officials reiterated the alliance’s support for Ukraine in its war with Russia.

“We see continued Russian attacks. Intense fighting continues along the front line and that just makes it even more important that NATO allies continue to support Ukraine,” Stoltenberg said.

He also added that the attendees will discuss China, and the Western Balkans.

Blinken, for his part, said: “We will be strongly reaffirming our support for Ukraine as it continues to face Russia’s war of aggression.”

“And of course, we will be talking about the crisis in Gaza and the broader Middle East,” he added.

The two-day meeting will end on Wednesday.
