World Bank and Kazakhstan collaborate on 48 projects valued at $8 Billion

ASTANA: Kazakh Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov has announced that Kazakhstan and the World Bank have successfully completed 48 projects, amounting to over $8 billion, in their cooperation spanning more than three decades. The meeting was also attended by Tatiana Proskuryakova, the World Bank’s Regional Director for Central Asia. Currently, six projects are under execution.

The collaboration is designed to bolster Kazakhstan’s reforms for sustainable and inclusive growth, as demonstrated by the Joint Economic Research Program that has been in operation for more than 20 years.

Prime Minister Smailov emphasized Kazakhstan’s dedication to enhancing its partnership with the World Bank.

The World Bank’s Regional Director for Central Asia, Proskuryakova, highlighted that the preparation of new projects has been accelerated by discussions held in August. These projects include initiatives like providing internet connectivity to isolated villages as part of the government’s program.

She expressed her belief that this would serve as an excellent model for all Central Asian nations and further solidify Kazakhstan’s position as a regional leader.
